Don’t Let your RIGHT be WRONG

There’s MORE to life than the 1
st Amendment. While it is true that the 1st
Amendment gives us the right as Americans to freely speak, it is also true that there are places which it is inappropriate and not allowed to speak. Our freedom of speech is not being taken away when we are in a Library, a funeral service, or sitting in a classroom. The fact remains that we maintain our right to free speech, but this is NOT the time or the place for that right to be exercised. Although “The Byrds” made the song, “Turn! Turn! Turn!” famous in the 60’s, they did not create the thought for the lyrics to their song. King Solomon, the wisest man in history wrote the original thought-line in the Book of Ecclesiastes, chapter 3, verses 1-8

¶ To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

King Solomon did not do away with the “right” to speak, he just said there was a time for speaking and a time to be silent. Honoring and respecting one’s surroundings and the atmosphere of the setting does not eliminate or voluntarily relinquish any of our rights. We just demonstrate ourselves to be a people with enough civility, decency, and respect that we conduct ourselves according to the honorable opportunity in which we are currently engaged. So, though I may not agree with the person or positions held by the person in the casket doesn’t mean I should protest and demonstrate my opposition during their funeral service. There’s just too much that is held as dear and sacred by the fact that someone has died for me to mock the decency of the funeral with my right to speak out and protest. Neither should I rise up in a Library and voice my protests over books or authors with whom I find disagreement. Although I do have the right, it is neither the time nor the place for such an act of disrespecting myself and those who have come for a different purpose than me. For a person to hold to the right to kneel or raise a fist or sit during the National Anthem is just another of many such illustrations where we are not giving up a right, we just simply honor those who have sacrificed for our freedoms by standing for the National Anthem, and save our protests for the proper time and place. For the NFL to use their platform to join in the protests is somewhat of an oxymoron. They are the

NATIONAL Football League, and by being the NATIONAL

Football League, they are held to a higher standard as they represent all of America in the game of football. (We could say the same for the NBA, NHL, and MLB with American and National Leagues). It’s a matter of ethics and respect. The very things the left “claims” to be embracing while making their protests. When a person (especially in a position of influence) makes a public statement or protest, they must be aware of the responsibility they have accepted by initiating what they may not be able to control. What seems like a simple or innocent protest of sitting while the National Anthem is played, is in reality, a key that unlocks the door for others to be creative in their own version of the same protest. Don’t think that influencers are not accountable for their instigation of violence and proliferation of unruly acts of vandalism. These demonstrators call themselves protesters and somehow feel that they have the “right” to break windows, burn police cars, loot and destroy. Celebrities, sports stars, and anyone else in a position of leadership and influence should not ever lower the standards of decency and human dignity by instigating a protest of such an icon of our liberty as the Flag or the National Anthem nor the service and sacrifice of police, military, and their families. You should have enough dignity about yourself and enough respect for those who fought and died for the freedom we enjoy today.
United States Code,

36 U.S.C. § 301

, states that during a rendition of the national anthem, when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart; Members of the Armed Forces and veterans who are present and not in uniform may render the military salute; men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold the headdress at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart; and individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until the last note; and when the flag is not displayed, all present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed. Military law requires all vehicles on the installation to stop when the song is played and all individuals outside to stand at attention and face the direction of the music and either salute, in uniform, or place the right hand over the heart, if out of uniform. A law passed in 2008 allows military veterans to salute out of uniform, as well

Yes, you may have the “right”, but never let your right be wrong.

Destroying History may Cause it to Repeat Itself

History has always been something we wish in many ways we could change. When we look over our shoulder and back in time, we see there have been so many tragedies and even atrocities that we cringe at how depraved the character of mankind can be…especially to each other.

It is that same history that has taught us and brought us to where we are today as a culture and a civilized people. So many lessons learned, so many ways have been revised that we no longer are even willing to say and do many things which one time were both normal and socially acceptable. Our past serves as a reminder of all that was good and we continue to hold, cherish, and hopefully pass to the next generation…at the same time, our past serves as a monument to the declaration we make in our hearts to “NEVER AGAIN” allow prejudice, chauvinism, child-labor, land-grabs, genocide, or any other abandonment of the decency of law and order.

As Americans, we have stood against domineering and power-hungry regimes who would displace and even kill the people in their way of expansion. We learned that from some of our own historical mistakes. There is no way to go back and undo what history tells us we did, but we can do everything to make it as right as possible, and move forward as one nation under God with a commitment to NEVER AGAIN allow gluttonous land grabbing that displaces people and destroys their way of living. We as Americans are reminded of the ups and downs of our historical relationship to those who called this land “home” before those from the Eastern Hemisphere arrived. We are reminded through monuments, historical markers, and many documents and national sights…that this time in our history actually existed and we have come through some horrific lessons, many at the expense of each other along the way. The Native American, and the important role they have played in the shaping of this country and our culture, is not to be forgotten! We should have statues, and monuments, national sights, and reminders to never let a generation forget the good and the bad that has been used to bring us to where we are today. We use both the positive and the negative to teach us how to improve and be the civil culture that we are striving to be in this modern day.

Our country and culture has faced numerous opportunities to advance from our roots of ignorance and into this age of equality, acceptance, and tolerance. There was a time when women were not allowed to vote. This is a historical fact, but one we have learned to be a cultural mistake. It was normal for them to accept the fact, and even to debate and defend their erroneous positions, but as this nation progressed, we learned and determined to keep moving forward and out of the dark decisions of our past. We should have history lessons and speeches given that remind us of the failure of such a mindset…that keeps women as second rate citizens and withholds the basic right of voting from them because of their gender. We should make heroes out of those who championed for women’s rights. However, if the past is erased, we will never know what they stood for, nor why they were acclaimed as American heroes. Sometimes a monument or a historical marker reminds us of a darker side of our history, but we cannot ignore the fact that we the people used to be “that” as a country and a culture. If we are guilty of forgetting and intentionally erasing our history, then we set future generations up for failure in many of these same issues. If future generations do not see both sides of the issue, then they may default to the wrong side! This would bring about a replaying of history that NONE of us want to revisit.

Dominance and bigotry are nothing new, mankind has dealt with his fears and cruelties to one another for thousands of years. It is painfully true that our country once allowed slavery of one people group by another people group. What has become repulsive and refused by this generation was actually normal and acceptable by our forefathers, just a few years ago. When our country was founded, many of those whom we hold in high regard for the good they procured, were actually on the other side of some of these issues than we are today. Over time, some of them changed their minds and were brought into the light of Truth and even went against the normal thought line of their own generation. It wasn’t easy and it took some time before the nation, as a whole, embraced the truth that God created every man in His Own Image and we are ALL equal in His sight, thus we should be equal in each other’s sight as well. It took a horrible civil war to bring to a closure a horrible and dark chapter of our actual history. One that cannot be erased, but can be forgotten…if we do not do what it takes to remember and pass along to the next generation. Statues, historical markers, preservation of birthplaces, etc. are items of ALL of our heritage (whether we like it or not). If we think that by removing, desecrating, or destroying these things will make us better or erase our past…it is just not true…it’s just not going to make it go away. Although we, in this generation, would not support or even agree with many things our forefathers thought to be acceptable, it is a part of what made us who we are today…tolerant equals who respect and believe in each other and the future of this great country. We could not have learned this except from the years of both good and bad experiences and choices previous Americans made in our past…it’s our history. If we the people make the choice to remove, desecrate, and destroy the memorials and markers that tell the story of our history, then what will we have to motivate us to continue positive advancement or to keep us from making the same horrible mistakes again and again?

Removing a statue of someone because you see a dark side of our history doesn’t take away the bad or the good that they did, it only removes the opportunity for us to point the next generation in the right direction. You may see an individual portrayed by a monument as a reminder of an evil in our history, but it is also a reminder to “NEVER AGAIN” allow that particular evil to resurrect in our countries future.

NONE of us would agree today with many of the choices that were socially acceptable by the majority in those days (treatment of the Native Americans, lack of women’s rights, child labor, slavery, etc.) but they were definitive of us as a country and they served as highlighted points in our past that we grew to understand as morally wrong and now they are understood to be socially wrong as well.

Have we “arrived”? Are there no more injustices within the fabric of our culture? Can we say that we are morally and socially at the pinnacle of humanity? Has evil been eradicated? Certainly, the answer to all of these is a resounding “NO!”. Will there be a reason for a statue or a marker or memorial to be erected in your name or in my name for the difference we stood and brought to this great country? Will there be a future when someone reacts to that marker because they see you or me as not morally or socially advanced as they are? Will we not all realize that without the conflicts of moral and cultural differences, humanity cannot and will not move past what is currently socially acceptable behavior!?!

Somebody had to raise the point that the games within the Roman Colosseum were barbaric and morally wrong. Somebody had to raise the point that people fighting to the death or being eaten by lions was wrong and should be socially unacceptable behavior.   It worked! There are no government sponsored events like this anywhere in the world, today. However, there are artifacts and pieces of ancient history that have been preserved and serve as reminders of humanities grave and barbaric past. The atrocities of the concentration camps around the world remind us to never let anything like this ever happen again…EVER! How foolish would we be to tear down the Roman antiquities or remove any and all traces of these camps? How foolish would it be for us to close the Holocaust museums and keep that part of history so deeply covered that nobody ever discovers the deepest horrors of human history.

The same thing applies to our American history. We should leave standing the markers, statues, and memorials for future generations to see and decide that they want a brighter and more positive future for America than that which was handed to them. They can look at these intentional reminders of both the positive and negative choices made by our American forefathers in our group effort to attempt to bring the United States out of the dark past of racism, bigotry, and chauvinism into our modern day where we the people believe in social and cultural equality for all.

Those looking back on our decisions today will blame us for sure and hopefully learn from our mistakes. It would be great to see a day in America’s (hopefully near) future, when our education programs are successful, the stain of abortion is removed from our culture and not just our conscience. When racial equality is truly felt by all, not just for a select group of people. When there is no need for activism to lobby and march for the rights of American citizens. When there are no more clashes between citizens of this one nation because of the color of their skin. When every American trusts and respects the others and together we make a difference in a world who looks to us for moral and cultural leadership!

Who knows, maybe they will erect a statue of one of us from this generation who makes a culturally divisive stand against the evil that remains in our present day.… I hope that by then, nobody will tear it down because they don’t like you or me for some other reason that we can’t change because we are dead and gone.

Various Shades of Dirt

Genesis 2:7

“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground,…”

Recent tragedies in Charlottesville, VA compel me to write and make a public statement for the Glory of God.

Racism is evil!

No matter what color you are, if you have hate in your heart for another person, you are wrong!  No matter what color we are, the truth is that God made no mistake when He decided to create us in His Image and in His Likeness.  It was His idea to make us in a variety of colors.

Color does NOT equal character.

No matter what color you choose to look at, there are plenty of good examples as well as bad examples for how we should live our lives.  The problem we face is NOT based on race or color, but is a direct result of SIN and people who will choose to follow the directives of the devil instead of listening to the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Bible, (God’s Word), says, “For God so loved the

world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever

believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16. God loves EVERY single person He created.  There is not one person beyond the interest and love of God.  The devil, on the other hand, is a liar and a murderer, a deceiver, and a destroyer of lives.  When I look at riots of hate, marches of hate, retaliations of hate, injuries caused by hate, murders caused by hate…I KNOW it came from the devil and not from the Lord Jesus Christ!
We are ALL sinners and cannot say we are perfect in any way.  This does NOT give us reason to hate and despise one another because of what we see in or on each other.  The sin within mankind separates us from a proper relationship with God, and makes us ALL the same in His eyes…guilty of our

own sins.  While some express their sinfulness in ways that appall the rest of us, the fact remains…we are all sinners and in need of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.  When God looks down from Heaven, He sees His creation living for themselves, abusing themselves, violating His Law, hating and hurting each other.  He sees SIN, NOT SKIN as the problem.  God created us all from the dust of the ground, and in reality, we are nothing but various shades of dirt

.  It is NOT the creative act of God nor the distinguishing marks of individuality that He gave us which causes Him grief, but the sinful hearts of mankind who choose our own ways instead of repentance and surrendering our lives to Him.
Jesus loves you, and He loves those who hate you.  Jesus loves ALL the little children of the world… they are precious in His sight!

YOU are precious in His sight!

Turn to Him today and be forgiven forever!  Together we MUST stand and refuse to let hate creep into our community and destroy our families the way it is destroying so many today.  If you have hate in your heart, give it to Jesus.  He bled and died so you could be free from the bondage and slavery of hate.  Trust Jesus to change your heart and life that you may live for His Glory instead of for the pleasure of the devil.

I Corinthians 1:27

Last time, I wrote brief summaries of the 3 Divinely ordained institutions of Authority over human relationships: The Home, Civil Government, and the Local Church. I will continue this series today, beginning with the Home.

The Home has faced as many attacks against its survival as there have been homes in human history.  Yours is no exception to the rule!  The devil hates God’s Design and will do everything he can to confuse, control, and corrupt our minds in order that he may re-define and re-design what has been called for generations, “the Home”.

Since it was God Himself who designed the Home, I will use His Word, the Holy Bible, to help us to have a better understanding of His expectations and His Divine Definition of the Home.

Genesis 2:21-24

And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

The Definition of the Home

In the Book of Genesis, we read of God’s Creative acts.  On Day 6, God Created man-kind in His Own Image.  God said that everything He made on that day was “very good”!  That includes the designations of His Creation and the purposes for which He created them.  God made “man” out of the dust of the ground and formed “woman” from a rib taken from the side of the man.  God presented the man with the woman to be his wife.  Evidently, it was God’s idea for a man to marry a woman, and that righteous standard is clearly seen as the ONLY acceptable definition of marriage throughout the Word of God!  Although there have been cultures and societies (some noted in the Bible) that have maligned God’s Holy standard, and have made up their own standard, Jesus Himself said in Matthew 19:4-5 “And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?”

There is NOTHING difficult to understand about that statement!

God, Who Designed the Home, has now Defined the Home.  Anything other than this Divinely described statement of what marriage is, clearly removes the absolute authority of the Designer to be the Definer! God recognizes His definition to be THE definition for marriage, family, children, and homes.  When we, as a society, begin to shift away from the Almighty’s original design, we set ourselves up for failure and moral divide!  There have always been various segments of the culture who have insisted upon retaining the “right” to live and act and promote agendas other than what God has already determined to be RIGHT.  However, no matter how many home-made rules, rights, or allowances we may enact, it is STILL God ALONE Who sets the standards for right and wrong, gender distinctions, marriage, and the home in general.  He Who DESIGNED His Creation, DEFINES His Creation, and ALL of Creation will answer to Him in Judgment one day! Praise the LORD!

A Matter of Jurisdiction

“It’s a Matter of Jurisdiction”

When God Divinely ordained authority, He delegated that authority into three areas of human relationships. God Almighty instituted the Home 1st, Civil Government 2nd, and the Local Church 3rd. Just like the Trinity itself, these are all independent, yet they work together to bring righteousness to the forefront of societies.  These exist to train, to teach, and to try people, that we may live our lives to the honor and glory of God Almighty. Lest there be any errors, omissions, or misunderstandings, all three were exclusively derived from, defined by, and described in the Holy Bible, God’s Word.  God Himself established His Word as the Supreme Authority over all of His Creation.

The jurisdictional responsibilities given to these three institutions of God’s Divine Authority are limited within Scripture.  These 3 prove to us that we need the order and guidance of Divine Providence lest we stray from His Word and His Will. With this post, I hope to begin an informational series to discuss these three institutions of God’s Authority, and describe their purpose, place, and power in all of our lives.  I hope to share the benefits associated with being an active and properly functioning member of each one.  Remembering that God Himself gave us His perfect order and plan for our lives, it is only fitting that I write from a Biblical worldview, giving allegiance to the Almighty and allowing Him to own and order these institutions as He sees fit.

We know it was God Who designed and defined marriage, the home, and the family within the first few chapters of Genesis.  He gave “woman” to be the wife of “man” and to their union alone was given the biological abilities afforded by natural law to reproduce children and to “be fruitful and multiply” into generations of families.  These families were to be led and guided by the godly example of their family head, the father.  Over time, the need was evident to govern between families who were independent of each other’s Home authority.  God Himself ordained Civil Government to fill part of that position of responsibility…

It was God’s idea to ordain Civil Government to represent the rights and protect the liberties of each individual and each Home.  Also, that one “Home” could not impede the liberty or the pursuit of happiness enjoyed by another “Home”.  The Civil Government was given authority to incarcerate, levy taxes, protect its citizens, wage war, exact capital punishment, and much more as they fulfilled their duty to represent and protect the individuals within its realm and jurisdiction…

The Local Church exists to proclaim the Truth of God’s Word to every Home and to every Civil Government.  The Word of God has historically been the standard by which every individual in every Home would be faced with the reality of their sin-guiltiness, and every Civil Government would be held accountable to base the “law of the land” upon the Eternal and Unchanging Laws of “Nature and of Nature’s God”, the Bible…

The authority of the Local Church does not overreach into the authority of the Home or the Civil Government, and neither does any level of Civil Government have authority to usurp the authorities of the Home or the Local Church, likewise the Home does not trump the Church or Civil Government.  These were all equally delegated with jurisdictional authority by Almighty God Himself.  Each of these has a mutual responsibility to each of the others, to continue to honor the Lord by functioning properly within their God-given jurisdiction.

Summertime…good or bad…it’s almost here

As the school year winds down, I am filled with mixed emotions.  It is always exciting for both staff and students to have some time “off” from the regular school schedule.  There is another side to my emotions, however, that feels a certain twinge of regret as I soon face the summer schedule and the obvious emptiness of the halls here at FBA.  I have been pastoring for nearly 20 years and have been here at Faith Baptist for over 11 of those years, and what I have seen is a consistent pattern in the negative spiritual effects of summertime.  I spoke to the students in chapel today and asked them if it was just me, or did they feel the same propensity to drift away, during the summer, from the fervency we feel here each and every day.  They agreed that there is something special about what we have here. The emphasis on a daily diet of the Word of God, the fellowship we enjoy, and the accountability we share cannot be replicated anywhere else…especially during the time off in the summer.

Honestly, I have thought about year round school, but am not sure that is the answer either.  My hope and prayer will be that our ministry to these kids will grow and not diminish during the summer break.  We pray and plan on keeping ourselves focused and filled with ministry opportunities during the time “off”.  Then as we regroup this fall, we will not have had the same experiences we have endured over other school years…dealing with lives that have cooled off spiritually.

Let me encourage each of you who may potentially suffer with the same dread of summer as I do…

1. PRAY…pray for each other and pray to keep yourself in the love of God.  Living, not by a “list” but because you truly love Jesus

2. PERSONALIZE…personalize your daily Bible reading to make it do more than just make sense…apply the Scripture to your life and live it for the Glory of God

3. PRACTICE…practice the same spiritual disciplines and biblical activities you would when you are in a more accountable situation. (Go to church regularly, be a witness, reach out to others, etc.)

4. PREPARE…prepare your heart to be even more faithful and more committed to Christ when you resume your fall schedule

Unavoidable and Unchangeable Storms…

As I write this, Amanda and I STILL do not have electricity at our house. We have been, like so many across the South Carolina LowCountry, POWERLESS over the last few days. Now, before you begin asking yourself, I will answer the obvious question…”How can you be writing an email and sending it without power?” Well, we have “moved” into the Church Prophet’s Chamber since yesterday morning… Thankfully, the Church has power, and I have a place to take my family when we faced these difficult circumstances and storms. It has had me thinking alot about how addicted we all are to these conveniences and luxuries of life. God has truly blessed us and I would never discount His blessings, but the greatest blessings are NOT those that are plugged in, charged up, or operated by the flick of a switch. I guess it dawned on me with intensity two nights ago, when I sat down to eat supper by unintended candlelight. Amanda had cooked grits and scrambled eggs on our Coleman campstove, we boiled water and made tea, and sitting around the table were the GREATEST BLESSINGS OF MY LIFE!!! The laughter was contagious, the food was GREAT, and the candlelight revealed countenances that were aglow with JOY in spite of the storm and our powerless situation. We are currently STILL without power, but we’re OK. We came to the Prophet’s Chamber about 10:30 yesterday morning and have worked in and around the school as a family. We saw different church members throughout the day, and slept comfortably (after being lulled to sleep by the whispers and giggles of kids who’s lives are supposed to be miserably inconvenienced.)

As I have reflected upon the physical events of the last few days, I realize some deeper spiritual lessons that we have learned…

1. We are NOT in control, so there is NO need to get all bent out of shape during a unavoidable and unchangeable storm

2. When there is NO POWER at your house, there is STILL POWER at God’s House!

3. Get your family to the Church as quickly as possible to avoid any further danger or damage done by the “storms” in your life!

4. The storm itself may be over, but the damage and inconveniences caused by the storm may last awhile longer…so STAY at the Church!

5. Don’t get in any hurry to leave the Church…there’s STILL Power at the House of God!!!

6. God may not be through teaching me “Life Lessons”, so don’t panic or fret about today either

7. The SAME Power I have enjoyed at the House of God, will soon be at MY house as well, I just have to be patient and let God use the men who are hard at work restoring the “light” to my house

(I sure hope you’re getting this…)

8. This too shall pass, and with it ALL the “Life Lessons” I did NOT learn, so learn EVERYTHING you can through this unavoidable and unchangeable “storm”

“FRIEND” of the world…or “FRIEND” of God?

What would God’s “FRIEND” list look like?

James 4:4

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God

The Apostle Paul gives us some identifying factors in Galatians 5:19-21, that says,

19 “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like:of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”

For this post, I want to address verse 19 specifically.

19 “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,”

  • The WORKS – acts, the actions, the deed or thing done
  • of the FLESH – the sensuous nature of mankind…the base and natural cravings
  • are MANIFEST – instantly apparent, evident, known,  to be plainly recognized or known
  • which are THESE  – Adultery, Fornication, Uncleanness, Lasciviousness…

ADULTERY – any unlawful intercourse with the spouse of another

The LAW is not the laws of man or the opinions of man, but the LAW of God Almighty.  It is He Who said, “Thou shalt not commit adultery”

When a man or a woman begin cultivating a relationship with someone else’s spouse, they are treading on thin ice!  I recently saw this very scene play out in my own community. A “preacher” spent way too much time “counselling” with a woman who was married…only to end up seeing her divorce her husband of nearly 20 years and to begin a public relationship with him instead! They want to call it opinion or judging when you call their adultery “sin”, but God already identifies them for what they are…an ADULTERER and ADULTERESS! They care not what the Bible says or even the shame they bring to their pastor or to their local church (the Bride of Christ). As long as he can keep his radio “ministry”, “jail ministry”, and has a preacher or two who will agree with his wicked adultery.  The Bible becomes an irrelevant book that can be picked over for the things he wants to hear.  What a shock the Judgment of God will bring, when the Author of the 10 Commandments calls him to give account of his careless lusts and rendering of the Bible as null and void.

Sadly, other “Christians” can be seen online “liking” and commenting on their picture they have posted together.

I refuse to be silent or “let it die” when I know that GOD HATES ADULTERY!!!

FORNICATION – ANY illicit/unlawful sexual behaviour (pre-marital, extra-marital, sodomy, pornography, bestiality, etc.)

Again, the Law is the LAW of God Almighty.  He is the Creator and the ONLY One Who has the “right” to say so in ANY of our lives. When we live without boundaries and sin is reclassified as opinion and personal choice, then you leave the door open for every wicked illicit and immoral action, which God still calls SIN!

It used to be common place for Men of God to preach the Word of God against such wickedness, and to discipline those within the church who lived guilty of these sins.  Now, maybe if we don’t say anything, then maybe we won’t have to deal with it…and maybe it will go away.  It WILL NOT go away!

UNCLEANNESS – beginning in the mind, drifting to the motives, ending up in the manners of men who have strayed away from the LAW of God.

Secret sins are still sin, and it may surprise you to know that your sin may NOT be as “secret” as you think. God has a way of exposing the sins you thought were covered. Unclean thoughts, unclean motives, unclean fantasies, unclean behavior…as the leper of old…your life cries “UNCLEAN…UNCLEAN!!!”

LASCIVIOUSNESS – looseness, lessening of the standards, unbridled lifestyles, basically doing what is “right” in your own eyes

Here’s where it all begins.  A loosening of the standards…a lessening of the importance of Biblical holiness.  People begin living their life as if it was just that, THEIR LIFE! When pastors become puppets and will not act upon the Word they preach, or even more disturbing, they don’t even preach against it anymore. Turn your head, but God STILL sees the sin. Remain silent, yet God’s Word STILL speaks against lascivious lives. When there is no “fire” from Heaven or “power” in the preaching, there is no fear of God in the people. Then men tend to drift back into the ways they learned in “Egypt”. Churches are lulled to sleep and everyone forgets what the Bible says.

Forgetting what the Bible says seems to be the normal thought process of many in our day.

FORGET what the Bible says about ADULTERY, and they go ahead and break their covenant vows

FORGET what the Bible says about FORNICATION, and they live together, carousing around like animals

FORGET what the Bible says about UNCLEANNESS, and they plot and plan their wicked immorality (some let filthy pornography build for them a fantasy world and they keep a polluted mind)

FORGET what the Bible says about LASCIVIOUSNESS – and they quote verses, post pictures of Christmas scenes, love their “Family First” and fornicate, curse, living completely polar opposite of the Bible, having it “their way”.

What continues to be the greatest heartbreaker of all is the fact that so-called “Christians” will continue to “LIKE” their pictures, “FOLLOW” their timelines, and stay “FRIENDS” with those who have, by their lifestyles, “UNFRIENDED” and “UNFOLLOWED” God.

James 4:4

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

I am NOT ASHAMED of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and I cannot be silent about those who are polluting the Gospel with their wicked lifestyles!  The world EXPECTS for us to be different from what they are!  You could expect this kind of immoral behavior from the bar crowd and the club crowd, but these are “spots in your feast”.  These are they who live among us and pollute the community with their hypocrisy, immorality, and their lies. Whether they are “preachers”, “missionaries”, “families who are NOT submitted to the local church”, SIN is STILL SIN!

God KNOW who you are…and so do YOU.

God WILL take care of you!

Don’t “Duck” the issue…SIN is SIN

The attacks on Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson are just a sad tip of the iceberg our culture has wrecked upon.

The Word of God said (a long time before any of us formed our opinions) that sin was sin and that although God loves sinners…He hates sin!  The Holy Bible lists on several occasions certain specific sins that God especially identifies as those He despises the most. It’s not always sexual or immoral sins that make it to God’s list of those sins He hates.  God hates pride, God hates lying, God hates the murder of the innocent, God hates wicked fantasies, God hates how quickly sin is embraced, God hates the dishonest gossip of liars, and God hates it when discord disrupts the harmony of unity.(Prov. 6:16-19)

Before some of you gobble up this list and wave it in the face of those who stand with God against sin, you better think twice!  God does NOT expect for me or anybody else to sit back and pretend that you are not in sin.  God does NOT expect for me to sit back silently while immoral and ungodly people flaunt their sinful lifestyles in the face of God, His Church, and the Community where they live.  God doesn’t think it’s cute that you can live in open immorality and post quips and quotes of God’s love and Christmas on your social media sites.  God’s Word calls you a double minded and unstable man.

The WORST part is that it’s not just mainstream media and other celebrities who will readily accept sin as normal and even desirable behavior. Many of you who attend Fundamental Baptist Churches have lowered your standards and have given Satan a place where he can comfortably flee when he is resisted by those who will point out sin as they see it infiltrate their church, family, or community.  I am amazed at the so called “Christians” who continue to “Follow”, “Friend”, or “Like” these immoral men of reprobate minds.  Somehow you leave the impression that maybe “birds of a feather DO flock together”.

Somehow, many “Christians” have swallowed the idea of our wicked culture, that if you say anything about or against sin…then you are the one who is doing the wrong!  How ridiculous of an idea that would simply silence the pulpits and make mute the pews, while sinful men continue their lascivious behavior.  I refuse to be silent when the souls of men, women, boys, and girls are lost and continue to be confused by the immoral and ungodly lifestyles of those who use the Cause of Christ for their own gain or convenience!

Amen Phil!

Keep it in perspective. Love the sinner…hate the sin! Pass them through the Cross of Calvary, and the sin will be washed away and the sinner saved for all of eternity!

Psalm 58:3-4

The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.

Their poison is like the poison of a serpent:…

Have you ever seen the effects of poison? Have you ever known someone who has been bitten by a poisonous spider or snake? I know a man in my church who was bitten by a Copperhead and the effects were horrible! In just a short period of time,  he grew weak and sickly. He didn’t even know at first that it was a snake which had bitten him. He was hospitalized, and had to be treated with powerful and expensive medicine to reverse the effect of the poison and to begin the healing process. After some time, he did recover…but he has a definite and obviously new alertness for the presence of snakes. He also is quick to warn (anyone who’ll listen) to the dangers, the pain, and the long-term effects of being POISONED!

Scripture warns of the dangers of those whose conversation is as damaging as the poison of snakes…

The poison is FATAL – The poison is CRUEL – Their tongue is SHARP – it’s the simplest of conversations wherein you may get’ poisoned…and not even realize what is happening.

I’ve warned the church of snakes among he congregation, only to watch some continue to converse with the “snakes”. When they do get bit, the poison has such strange and even varying effects.

The poison makes you weak…

The poison makes you lethargic…

The poison makes you NOT want to do the normal things you used to do…

The poison will not draw you into close fellowship with the snake, but you just won’t feel like being in fellowship with anyone

A snake can be hiding just about anywhere.

The Man of God is given discernment to detect the snakes, spiders, wolves, etc. You can avoid being POISONED many times by simply following the directions given by the Man of God.

For those of you who have been POISONED,,,

REALIZE – the snake was never your friend…you were their opportunity

REMEMBER – the Man of God who warned you, is trying to RESCUE you from the POISON

RETURN – there is only ONE hope for your life…you need to get back to the closeness and fellowship of the Church. Of course you don’t “feel like it”!… You’ve been POISONED!!!

God’s Word warns us that the enemies of the Cross will poison you…and just like Bro. Mark, you may not even know what bit you!
